SIP : Session Initiation Protocol
Why did AETA AUDIO SYSTEMS and the main codec manufacturers choose this protocol for transmission over IP?
The SIP protocol is a standard developed for Voice over IP applications. It is supported by telecom operators and many organisations such as the EBU. Many products designed for media transmission over IP operate with this standard.
This is due to its capabitlity to solve most compatibility and interoperation issues met on such applications, including the traversal of firewalls and NAT routers. Choosing SIP compliant codecs from AETA AUDIO SYSTEMS or a member of the “Audio-via-IP Experts Group” avoids getting “locked” to a single brand and a proprietary system. You thus keep free and open for the future evolution.
